Mo Mata (she/her)

Surf Therapy Associate AMFT #129544

Hi, I’m Mo!

I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I Graduated from the Marriage and Family Therapist program at Bethel University in 2021.

I believe that the mind and body are connected. Through somatic modalities, like Surf Therapy, Nature Therapy, and other approaches, we are able to reconnect, remember, and enrich the connection of our bodies and mind from experiences that have caused us to disconnect from ourselves.

Any questions? email me at Mo@groundswellcommunity.org

Holly Beck (she/her)

Surf Therapy Associate

Hola, I’m Holly!

I’m an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor in California with a specialty in surf and somatic therapy, based on a solution-focused approach. I believe the ocean is our greatest teacher.

I am also a former professional surfer and experienced surf coach. I have a passion for using the ocean and the emotions that experience in the ocean brings up in us as the context for gaining increased self-awareness. By making connections, moving to a place of understanding and acceptance, and learning tools for finding joy in the water, clients will also be able to find more confidence in the ocean as well as translate learning to other parts of life. I believe change is beautiful and we are all capable of becoming better versions of ourselves. My style is to practice unconditional positive regard with a lively sense of humor.

I’m looking forward to paddling out with you in person or online.

Sarah Fisher (she/her)

Surf Therapy Associate AMFT #130320

Surf therapy and the ocean have been a big part of my own journey and I couldn’t feel more honored to be a part of offering it to the community. Whether you have zero experience around the ocean or you already have a regular surf practice, I would love to share with you my experience with Groundswell Community Project’s trauma-informed training and certification. This includes Mindfulness-based therapy, somatic-based therapy, expressive-arts, and eco-therapy practices.

My time working alongside Groundswell in group and 1:1 surf therapy sessions have been some of my most memorable experiences as an associate therapist. I also have background in other community organizations and treatment centers working with individuals in recovery, women, and teens. I can’t wait to hear from you and talk with you more about what these sessions include!
