Imani Wilmot
Imani Wilmot is a surfer, filmmaker, and community facilitator from Jamaica whose life and work are deeply rooted in the ocean. Introduced to surfing as a child, the sea became both her classroom and her refuge: a source of grounding, resilience, and connection. As the founder of Surf Girls Jamaica, Imani cultivates spaces where the ocean becomes a shared language and healing happens together in true come-unity.
After completing her Groundswell Facilitator Training in 2022, Imani went on to host and co-facilitate a Surf Therapy Facilitator Training Retreat with the Groundswell Community Project in her hometown in 2023. She continues to have regular Surf Therapy sessions
Through surf therapy and ocean-based practices, Imani creates safe, supportive spaces for reflection, healing, and personal growth. Her approach combines community, emotional wellbeing and environmental awareness with the “irie” energy of Jamaica.
