Be the Groundswell

Give the gift of healing and help create a more connected, resilient, and inclusive world.

  • Your financial support helps Groundswell Community Project provide life-changing surf therapy programs for women and non-binary individuals. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all monetary donations are tax-deductible, and you’ll receive a receipt for your records. Every dollar goes directly to supporting our mission, funding scholarships, equipment, and expanding access to healing through the ocean. Thank you for making a difference in our community!

  • Join us in creating safe, supportive spaces by volunteering your time and skills. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, especially those with experience in therapy, wellness, or event coordination. Whether you can help facilitate surf therapy sessions, organize community events, or lend a hand behind the scenes, your time and energy are invaluable to our mission. Sign up to get involved and help us grow our impact!

  • Your generous donation not only helps us continue our mission of healing and empowering through surfing, but it also brings a special gift to say thank you for being part of this community.

Why Give?

Our participants come carrying invisible weight — trauma, grief, anxiety, isolation.

At Groundswell, we create space for healing to begin in the body and take root in community. Using somatic therapy, trauma-informed care, and intentional connection, we help underrepresented individuals regulate their nervous systems, build emotional resilience, and reclaim a sense of belonging — in themselves, in each other, and in nature.

Your gift creates space for transformation — and helps redefine how healing happens.

Every dollar, every board, every act of generosity moves us closer to a world where everyone belongs — in the lineup and in their own bodies.

  • Surf Therapy Participant

“I've been in therapy for 6 years for PTSD, and in 8 weeks of Surf Therapy, I made massive breakthroughs I never thought possible. My self-confidence has improved and my symptoms have decreased allowing me to hold a job and support myself again. It's brilliant combining all these elements: nature, physical movement, community, and joy. I never thought I could experience so much joy while healing so much pain. The therapists and Mother Ocean are quite a team!”

  • Surf Therapy Participant

“The ocean is a metaphor for life, I can’t control her flow, but I can learn to surf her waves with curiosity, excitement, surrender, humbleness, joy, & zero expectations. She shows me how life is truly in constant flux, requiring courage & surrender & skills in flowing. She accepts me exactly how I am, no judgement. All love.”
